I mailed a series of these out during my initial search for a job in the design field. Each folder was hand crafted, and came complete with its own original, four-photo print from the photo booth in the local mall. You could never actually see my face in any of the shots, it was always covered by either a shadow or my camera, or else it was out of the frame. When the recipient opened the folder, I'd included a copy of my resumé (printed on the same spotty, brown paper stock you see at the top of this scan) and black & white photos of several pieces in my portfolio, attached to that brown stock by old-style photo corners. The whole mess was held together by strategically placed black electrical tape. If you look closely, you'll see I recycled the thin lines from my work on the Ringside Report magazine cover. I also created an accompanying web site in the same style, featuring an expanded portfolio and my resumé in PDF format. The mailer landed me my first two interviews and my first real job, though I'll admit I had a little help from the inside on getting the job.
